The Sunset

Sunset

As the sun sets on the last day off our holiday, I feel a little nostalgic.

I have the post holiday blues, the feeling that the past 2 weeks were all a dream. That reality that normal work life is fast approaching is sending all my holiday memories to the filing cabinet in my brain.

The only thing currently stopping me from believing that this was all the dream is the 1215 photos currently downloading to the computer! And believe it or not those are supposed to be the cream of the crop from just over 3000 I actually took in total! I think I may have to preen a bit further!

All that is left to say that it really has been an amazing adventure. I've met some great people, seen some magnificent sights and the food, well, what can I say..... I don't think anything will taste as good ever again!

Within myself I feel a change. I'm a little stronger, a lot wiser and I have a sense of confidence that I can do things on my own without 'adult supervision'!

I will miss New York and hope one day to return. It really has been a remarkable experience.

I'm hoping to leave this post with a photo of an image that will be etched in my mind forever. A beautiful ending to a wonderful holiday. The sunset on the statue of liberty from battery park.

Bye Bye New York, missing you already! x

Homeward bound

We've made it as far as Dublin. It's 8:40am and our bodies are telling us we should be asleep as its 3:40am!

In her element

My feet hurt. My feet have gone passed the point of hurting. We've walked round Manhattan Island today I think.

We went down to the WTC memorial which I found very hard to be near. Felt very emotional for some reason. Walked along the edge of the river and through wall street. Managed to avoid joining the 'occupy wall street' protest. Stayed in Battery Park looking out over the Hudson River towards the Statue of Liberty whilst the sun set. Another emotional moment for both of us this time.

So a bit of retail therapy was called for, and after a bit of walking around Times Square we found the M&M and Hershey's stores. Zara was in chocolate heaven.

Breakfast in bed

The only bad thing about the hotel is not enough tables for breakfast. So we have to take it back to our room!

Oh no, hes got a cold!

After our first late seeing a Broadway musical, I was still wide awake this morning at 6:30!

It's now 8am here, I'm lying in bed and the lump way on the other side just stirred and said. " I've got a cold!"

So I'm thinking I'm going to have a grumpy Patrick for the last few days!!

Hopefully it won't stop me enjoying the sights.
Off downtown today, once he finally gets up!

Top of the rock!

Just a quick post as we're getting ready to go see a Broadway show. Oh yes dahlings! Another busy day walking round Central Park. We saw some TV show being filmed. Nobody seemed to know which one tho! And then spent several hours! at the top of the Rockefeller Centre. A slightly hazy view but another cloudless, sunny warm day in New York.
